This full day workshop will review the critical elements of the college application process. Students will have the opportunity to brainstorm and begin writing their Common Application Essay and University of California Personal Insight Questions. Additionally, step-by-step instruction will be provided so that students can successfully complete their Common Application and University of California applications. Supervised lab time will be provided to answer individual questions and will provide students with the guidance and tools they need in order to complete applications in a timely manner. Students will leave the workshop with an immense feeling of relief, knowing that a daunting portion of the college application process has been completed. Each student will receive an additional 30 minute private consultation with one of our college planning experts. This consultation can be used to read final essay drafts, review applications, or ask any additional questions you may have about the process.
Common Application and UC Application Components
We will review all the components that are contained in the two most popular applications for California students. These components include the Activity, Honors and Awards list, letters of recommendation, writing supplements, academic record and standardized test reporting.
Common Application Personal Statement
The Common App essay is your primary writing sample within the Common Application, a college application portal accepted by more than 1,000 colleges and universities.
UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQ's)
There’s a lot more to your UC application than grades and coursework. The PIQ's allow you to communicate your unique accomplishments, talents, interests and experiences. All the things that make you a great UC applicant!
